Ushers & Greeters

2017 Annual Report

Usher/Greeters are the first people to welcome and direct people as they come to attend service.  Other duties include, taking attendance (which includes the choir and those serving and all church schoolteachers and children), recording the total number of attendees and giving that number to the office, process the Bread and Wine to the Altar, collecting the offering, putting the Hymnals and kneelers in order and making sure that the sanctuary is tidy for the next service.

It’s a simple, but very important list of duties.  However, one item stands above the rest on the list. Being the first person to welcome someone to our church.  The Ushers and Greeters represent the hospitality of Trinity Church to newcomers as well as being the welcoming face to regular attendees.  How welcome someone feels here is at the very heart of who we are as a people, a church family and as human beings. The dictionary defines welcoming as “a kindly greeting or reception, as to one whose arrival gives pleasure” and to greet the arrival of (a person or guests etc.) with pleasure or kindly courtesy.

In 2017, we had the pleasure of welcoming two new families as members of the Usher/Greeter group. We now have 2 volunteers for the 8:00 a.m. service and 7 couples, and 7 individuals for the 10:00 a.m. service.  Elizabeth Cowell continues to share the responsibilities of Usher/Greeter management with Mary Jones. While Elizabeth monitors the Sunday duties and generates the reminder calls, Mary continues to create and distribute the schedule and monitor changes.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the Usher/Greeters team, please see Elizabeth Cowell or email the office at
This ministry presents the opportunity to welcome the new members of Trinity on a personal level as well as to greet familiar members for Sunday Services.

Thank you Ushers and Greeters for welcoming everyone who comes through our doors!  Your dedication to this ministry, showing the hospitality that Trinity has to offer, is truly a gift to our parish.  What a wonderful way to show and to share Christ’s love. In that spirit, we welcome all parishioners to join the Ushers/Greeters group in 2018.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Jones
