2016 Annual Report

In 2016 the Pastoral Care/Welcoming Committee has continued to assist in the ministry of visiting and taking communion to the parishioners who are unable to attend Sunday worship.  Each committee member has been assigned one or two homebound parishioners to be visited at least once a month or more if needed. We would love a few more members, especially the Licensed Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs), as some have moved out of state.  If you would like to be part of the (LEMs) ministry, please see Linda+.  This particular aspect of our ministry allows us to take communion to those who are confined at home recuperating from illness or other circumstance.  It helps to keep parishioners connected who are unable to be with us on Sundays and in a sense takes church to them. From this group meals for recently hospitalized persons are coordinated and a card ministry actively continues. It’s a ministry filled with blessings, and we will train you! You have only to express desire to join us.

We continue to welcome all people into our doors and help others know that all are welcomed at our table. This group hosts newcomer ministry Sundays when they happen, one of which was held on April 17 when we welcomed 8 new families and/or individuals to the parish. Our Sunday ushers have been wonderful greeters, and we are always looking for new ways to welcome the stranger into our midst.

Please consider joining in this ministry, we would love to have you serve with us.  Please contact Roseann Kitching (860-507-6497) or Linda+ (860-693-8172).

Respectfully submitted,

Roseann Kitching, Chair Pastoral Care and Welcoming
