2018 Annual Report

The Pastoral Care/Welcoming group continued to reach out to homebound parishioners by providing meals when needed after a hospital or rehab stay, cards of remembrance, and a friendly telephone call to check on someone. We try to keep those connected to us as they are apart from us due to sickness or other circumstance. We bring Holy Communion to the home or hospital/rehab facility. We are in great need of Lay Eucharistic Ministers who are lay members of the parish trained to take communion to those confined at home. The training is straightforward, and the service of “Communion Under Special Circumstances” is in The Book of Common Prayer. This is a very special ministry, and we invite you to consider joining us. We need you!

Roseann Kitching has coordinated meals for parishioners during the past year, and there are many who help her by providing a meal. If you are interested in helping in this important food ministry, please contact Roseann. Under the umbrella of this ministry is also the Welcoming aspect, which is really ministry for each person in the pews. Welcoming the stranger can be equated with welcoming Christ, for that is what Benedict taught his monks in Benedictine monasteries. Vestry members have continued to welcome people into our doors at the foot of our Narthex stairs, and greeters have welcomed people as they enter the Sanctuary.

Please consider joining in this ministry and we would love to have you serve with us.  Please contact Roseann Kitching (860-507-6497) or Linda+ (860-693-8172).

Respectfully submitted,
Roseann Kitching, Chair Pastoral Care and Welcoming
